Le Noise

Le Noise

Neil Young is extremely interested in capturing the moment. He’s always been one for writing and recording quickly, dashing off concept albums or stylistically singular albums in less time than it takes many artists to set up the drums. Le Noise is delightfully weird. It’s a solo album where Neil takes out his electric guitar and leaves the band at home. After he’s done, producer Daniel Lanois goes to work tweaking the sounds into a peculiar kind of poetry. “Walk With Me” is so infused with chaotic passion and a guitar that sounds so good that no other instrument is needed. “Sign of Love” is a grinder that would’ve been an outstanding cut from Re*ac*tor. “Someone’s Gonna Rescue You” is an electric ballad: sweet, lilting vocals and guitars put through phasers. ”Love and War” and “Peaceful Valley Boulevard” break out the acoustic with some rippling effects. It’s unique and wonderful.
