CSNY 1974 (Deluxe) [Live]

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young could never stay together for long. Their manager, however, convinced them to tour the U.S. in 1974 to reap the big money. And maybe record the new material in the studio and even release a live album? Ego, chaos, and dissatisfaction ensured that nothing happened after the tour. But 40 years later, thanks to Graham Nash and producer Joel Bernstein, this collection exists. This deluxe version adds 40-plus minutes of glorious professional video and a digital booklet of photos, liner notes, and credits. The complete 40 audio tracks are culled from nine different concerts that approximate the real three-hour-plus show, including electric and acoustic sets that feature a few CSNY catalog songs but largely show off new material and each member’s solo work. The video footage puts everyone in the front row as the group run through “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” and a three-guitar attack on David Crosby’s “Almost Cut My Hair.” Neil Young sits with his Martin acoustic for “Old Man.” Nash sits at the piano and leads everyone through “Our House.” The amount and quality of the material makes this set essential.
