At Home With Kita Alexander

“The cool thing about being home all the time is that you can constantly have music playing in the house,” Kita Alexander tells Apple Music. “I can sit down on the couch and really listen to songs with my full attention, because I have more time. I’m really slow to digest music. I’m also picky when it comes to songs I like, so isolation is allowing me time to discover music that’s new to me at my own pace.” The Brisbane pop singer and songwriter is using this time to really dive in and spend extra time with her newest favourite songs. “The vibe of the playlist I’ve put together is literally my brain, all over the place,” she explains. “This is my 2020 playlist because I’ve really only fallen in love with them this year. They’re songs that personally make me smile and want to dance during this crazy time.” Below, Alexander talks more about her top picks. Lizzo, “Truth Hurts” “I’ve only just fallen in love with it. This is a guilty pleasure song because I feel really late to the party with this one.” Flume, “Friends” (feat. Reo Cragun) “We all have that one toxic relationship in our lives. My one is flaring at the moment, probably because isolation. This song reminds me to keep my distance from that friend.” Post Malone, “Circles” “Because I love Fleetwood Mac and he does that vibe so good in this song I wish I thought of it. Slightly jealous of this song.” The Kid LAROI, “Diva” “This song makes me feel like a teenager again for some reason. I tried playing it to some of my mum’s friends. They didn’t get the song, so now I just play this in the car whenever I’m by myself. I suppose it’s another guilty pleasure.”
