About Young Black Teenagers

Made up of four white rappers and one Puerto Rican, Young Black Teenagers took an audaciously sarcastic approach with their stage name. The first act signed to Hank Shocklee’s SOUL label, ATA, First Born, Tommy Never, Kamron, and DJ Scribble debuted in 1990 with the gimmicky TV-inspired single, “Nobody Knows Kelli.” Sporting high-energy rhymes and production from the Bomb Squad, YBT’s self-titled debut appeared the following year, spawning a handful of singles. After breaking with SOUL, YBT released their 1993 follow-up DEAD ENZ KIDZ DOIN’ LIFETIME BIDZ on MCA, which produced their largest hit, “Tap the Bottle.”
