Ruthie Henshall

About Ruthie Henshall

An actress, dancer, and singer with a strong mezzo-soprano voice, Ruthie Henshall established herself as one of the brightest stars of the London musical stage in the 1990s. She got her first big break in a major role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking CATS. After a spell in LES MISERABLES in 1993 she played her first leading role in the Gershwin musical CRAZY FOR YOU. In 1994, Henshall gave a concert of Gershwin songs at London’s Royal Festival Hall, supported only by tenor Michael Strassen and six boy dancers. Two years later, accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra, she recorded a radio program of classic show songs as a tribute to Barbra Streisand, Ethel Merman, and Julie Andrews, which was later released on CD.
