About Peter Kingsbery

Like other American singer/songwriters of note eg. David Baerwald, Peter Kingsbery has gone pretty much unoticed in his homeland. Having gained a degree in composition Kingsbery next found some fortune in writing and singing on other artists records; The Allman Brothers and Stephanie Mills in the early eighties. But it is as part of Cock Robin he is best known. The band's first album in 1985 made a moderate impact in the States but really scored big in Europe, particularly France where he has remained a fan base and now lives. After three albums Kingsbery launched a solo career with the French label Barclay, which again spawned three albums of varying work. The most successful being A Different Man in '91 and the most diversely satisfying Pretty Ballerina six years later. Between his own records he produced his biggest post Cock Robin hit with "Only The Very Best", a French number 2 in 1993, kept from the top by child star Jordy. The song was lifted from Tycoon, an English adaptation of the stage show by the legendary Tim Rice. At 50+ Kingsbery is still making invigorating music which continues to challenge his listerners whom wait for new material. A French language album and another of new studio work await final release dates. ~ Kelvin Hayes
