About Oscar Athie

Born in Acapulco in 1958, Óscar Athié is a Mexican singer and songwriter of Latin romantic ballads. An amateur musician from an early age, Athié decided to turn professional when he won the talent contest La Voz in 1981 and was subsequently awarded a recording contract with the Gamma label. Athié enjoyed considerable success throughout the '80s thanks to songs such as "Quiero Llenarme de Ti," "Fotografía," "Tengo que Empezar un Poco Más" (which he performed at the 1984 Festival OTI), and "Ahora Juntos," recorded with Laura Flores and Yuri. Athié retired from show business in the '90s to concentrate on his entrepreneurial activities, but continued to writing songs for his own enjoyment.
