About Neil Leyton

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Neil Leyton was born in Lisbon, listening to Elvis Presley before even learning English. That happened upon moving to Toronto at the age of 12. By that point, Bowie, the Rolling Stones, and later Hanoi Rocks and Dogs d'Amour also became favourites. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? David Bowie, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (2012 Remaster) Lusitanian Ghosts, Exotic Quixotic The Rolling Stones, Exile On Main Street Deluxe Edition Bowie's Ziggy is a classic, we covered "Lady Stardust" with my band The Conscience Pilate back in 1996 in Toronto. Exile is another favourite, so many great songs and an amazing vibe. Put those two together and get Lusitanian Ghosts' Exotic Quixotic! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “(I Got a Call from) Michael Maker” The Makers are great! So many songs on Strangest Parade ring true today, all the misery in the world… “it’s hard to be human”. So I imagined a phone call from Michael Maker, a time-travelling reverie back to my Toronto days and the Peyton Layne! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Working with Nicke Andersson on The Point and Imperial State Electric's "Deja Vu" was amazing, such a talented rock n roller. Singing backing vocals on the new Michael Monroe album with my friend Rich Jones was amazing. Thanks Rich! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Looking forward to making new music, solo, as well as with Lusitanian Ghosts, The Conscience Pilate and others! Lusitanian Ghosts will record our third album at Clouds Hill this January on analogue tape. Can't wait!
