About MC Breed
From his memorable 1992 smash with the DFC, "Ain’t No Future in Yo Frontin'," with its raw inflection and desolately funky sample, one might presume MC Breed to have leapt out of the thriving West Coast scene; however, Eric Breed was born (and died) in Flint, Michigan, an apt student of hip-hop, soaking in music from every corner of the country. One Breed cut might sound tough yet jazzy and fit in next to Brand Nubian or Gang Starr, while the next track was liable to swirl and wax hypnotic, matching the dizziest heights of the early Dirty South. While outside his big hit, MC Breed rarely rang national bells, he remained a vibrant part of the rap community until his sudden death in 2008 at age 36.
