About Kayode

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As an 8 year old child, I'm in the basement of my home. I ask permission to play all of vinyl the records I want to hear. My father shows me how to use the record player. When I saw how happy my parents were while dancing, that's when I became a DJ. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? A Tribe Called Quest, Midnight Marauders Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Each track on Stevie Wonder's album plays like a movie. It's very cohesive and deeply rich in sound and content. The same for Lauryn Hill. Her blend of rap and song is a priceless gem. ATCQ is a great team effort for the Golden Era of hip hop. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “10 Our Power is Major (feat. Kayode Olumoroti)” I produced and mastered it for Dolby Atmos without hearing it because I did not have proper hardware. Amidst all of that, It sounds great sonically to me, has superb lyrical content and is very different from other hip hop tracks. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Opening up for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. The room was packed full of people that never heard of me. At first my performance was ignored until the second verse of my first song: people stopped chatting to listen intently, then applauded! Much respect. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Perform an original work in collaboration with The Roots, Lauryn Hill and Invisible Tongues live on stage and in studio. The lyrics and music would be phenomenal!
