About Kate Campbell
Folk singer-songwriter Kate Campbell was born October 31, 1961, in New Orleans. Equally inspired by Emmylou Harris and Flannery O'Connor, Campbell writes literate, almost novelistic portraits of real and imagined events in Southern life and history. Her first album, 1995's SONGS FROM THE LEVEE, established her on the contemporary folk circuit, and later albums have attracted guests like John Prine and Southern soul survivor Spooner Oldham. Her 2004 album, THE PORTABLE KATE CAMPBELL, features new versions of songs from earlier in her career.
