The early 2000s saw many bands heed the call of OPM rock, but Join The Club rose above the herd. Breakthrough track “Nobela” (from 2005’s debut of the same name) primed them for success with hits “Lunes” and “Tinig”. But the five-piece refused to rest on their laurels, instead exploring rock punctuated by epic beats, impassioned verses and powerhouse riffs—as in the post-punk and psychedelia of 2015’s Gera Ng Balarila. And with 2020’s “Gintong Nadarang Sa Apoy”, Join The Club come full circle in revisiting their original sound—a stark reminder of their progress in reimagining Pinoy rock.
