About James Morrison
A natural musician able to play many instruments in numerous styles, James Morrison has made a strong impression with his playing. Born into a musical family, Morrison played multiple brass instruments and alto sax from an early age. Professionally, he toured with Don Burrows' quintet, visited the U.S. with Red Rodney's group, and was soon a popular fixture on the European jazz festival circuit. By 1989, his albums were earning worldwide distribution and he toured with Gene Harris' Philip Morris Superband as a trombonist. To show off his versatility, Morrison overdubbed himself on four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, and piano on his 1991 album Snappy Doo. ~ Scott Yanow
