About Hermetica

Argentinian Hermética was formed by Ricardo Iorio after local heavy metal act V8 broke up in 1987. The band's debut took place in May of 1988 at a local club in San Martin. Hermética's self-titled album was released in 1989 and presented live at a Córdoba venue, followed by 1990's Interpretes and 1991's Acido Argentino. That year, drummer Claudio Strunz replaced Scotto. In 1992, the band had the opportunity to open for Black Sabbath at Buenos Aires' Obras Sanitarias, and they released a live album the following year. In 1994, Hermética was one of the Monsters of Rock's opening acts; the festival was headlined by Slayer, Black Sabbath, and Kiss. That same year, the band broke up due to internal disagreements. Ricardo Iorio died on October 24, 2023, at the age of 61. ~ Drago Bonacich
