About Eraserheads

Eraserheads open 1994 single “Minsan” singing about Kalayaan, the name of their shared college dorm and the Filipino word for freedom. It encapsulates what the band craved: freedom to reimagine OPM. Debut Ultraelectromagneticpop! began a decade-long career which became the archetype for Filipino bands everywhere. Their clever, simpatico sound—guitar-driven and pulsing with beats—generated anthems for countless ’90s Pinoy kids, meaning their 2002 breakup could never be the end: cue a 2008 reunion concert and even a musical. The magnitude of Eraserheads’ impact on Filipino culture cannot be underestimated. As long as their records play, their legacy lives.
