About Dreadnaught

Formed in Tasmania before relocating to the Australian mainland, five-piece Dreadnaught lurched into action in 1992, performing their first shows in late 1994. They began shopping their Flowers demo the following year, but wound up self-releasing both 1996's Body, Blood, Skin, Mind album and 1998's Idiosincrasy EP before finding a home at Aussie indie Dark Carnival. With a lineup featuring singer Greg Trull, guitarists Richie Poate and Damon Alcock, bassist Andy Livingston-Squires, and drummer Aaren Suttil, the band acquired a small, but loyal following thanks to their bottom-heavy alternative metal and fearsome live shows. Though issued domestically in 1999, their next full-length Down to Zero was only released stateside two years later by the Music Cartel, by which time the band had already followed it with another Down Under-only EP entitled One Piece Missing (interestingly, featuring a cover of the Thin Lizzy chestnut "Cold Sweat"). ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
