A fine cool-toned tenor saxophonist, Dan St. Marseille came from a musical family in which his father sang opera, his great-uncle played clarinet, and his grandfather was a violinist. St. Marseille grew up in El Toro, CA, and since the late '80s has been a steady fixture in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. He founded and has run Resurgent Music, a label that has not only documented his own music since 1992, but has released other top Los Angeles-based jazz players. ~ Scott Yanow
