Genovese rapper Cromo began producing music in 2013 with fellow Italian rap artist Kalt. By 2015, he'd begun working with local label Studio Ostile and released his debut mixtape, OK-47. Around that same time, Cromo began working as a freestyler, performing around the country at shows and competing in a number of different contests. Alongside his collaborations with Kalt, he also guested on Young Slash's track "Diglielo" and found success on YouTube with his own single, "White Widow." His follow-up single, the Demo-produced "Cromito Loco," found even greater success, notching over a million YouTube streams in the spring of 2017.
