Bill Allred

About Bill Allred

A solid Dixieland trombonist who is a fixture at classic jazz festivals, Bill Allred started playing in bands while in high school. He worked locally with the Dixie Lads, the Davenport Jazz Band, and the Reedy Creek Jazz Band. In 1971, he settled in Florida and has often played at Disney World. Allred, who toured with Wild Bill Davison, has recorded as a leader for several small labels (including Fat Cat's Jazz, World Jazz, and in 1995 for Nagel-Heyer), and his son, John Allred (who plays in a similar style and sometimes teams up with his father), had a quartet date for Arbors in 1993. ~ Scott Yanow
