About C. Tangana

Fusing trap with flamenco, bossa nova, and other sounds, superstar Spanish rapper C. Tangana is helping to promote hip-hop in his home country. • C. Tangana studied philosophy at the Complutense University in his hometown of Madrid. He initially performed under the name Crema and made his debut in 2005 with Él Es Crema. • He resurfaced a few years later as a member of the Spanish rap group Agorazein. Soon after their 2011 project Kind of Red, he released an eponymous album as C. Tangana. • In 2017, Tangana and flamenco pop star Rosalía scored a massive streaming hit with “Antes de Morime.” • Led by the Top 5 Spanish hit “Mala Mujer,” Tangana’s 2017 album Ídolo positioned him to win Best New Artist of the Year at the LOS40 Music Awards. • He cowrote eight songs on Rosalía’s Grammy- and Latin Grammy–winning 2018 album El Mal Querer. • “Desmasiadas Mujeres,” the lead single off his chart-topping 2021 album El Madrileño, reached No. 1 in Spain.
