About Genesis Renji

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I wrote my first rap at 12 years old, my earliest memory of rap music was freestyling sessions with my brothers and cousin Pierre. Trying to impress my cousin started me on the path to what is now my passion and career. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Amy Winehouse, Back to Black Lupe Fiasco, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor Nipsey Hussle, Mailbox Money Food & Liquor was the first rap album I felt represented me and what I adored as a lover of words and lyricism. Back to Black catered to my love of jazz, heartbreak, and swing music. Mailbox Money taught me the value in equity & betting on yourself. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Hurt Me Again” Hurt Me Again is a song that encompasses my entire style as artist: melody, catchy hook, rapping ability, and amazing story-telling. All in one song. It's my greatest triumph of making my own painful experience into art and people connecting to it. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of my most memorable moments in my career is performing for a crowd of 7,500 people at Summerfest. In my hometown, on a packed stage, with my entire team and homies sharing that stage with me. That was a "I made it" moment. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There are a lot of things on my bucket list. Do a song with Childish Gambino, break a Drake record, make a song with unreleased Amy Winehouse vocals, win multiple awards, help my people employ themselves through their passions. The list goes on.
