About Syd

Los Angeles singer, songwriter, producer and former Odd Future member Syd effortlessly swerves from R&B and hip-hop to jazz, funk, and electronic music. • Raised in a musical family, Syd was interested in music from a young age. When she eventually joined the hip-hop collective Odd Future, the group often practiced at her house. • In 2011, Syd formed the soul group The Internet with musicians Matt Martians, Steve Lacy, Patrick Paige II, and Christopher Smith. They debuted in 2011 with Purple Naked Ladies and earned a Grammy nomination—for Best Urban Contemporary Album—for their third album, 2015’s Ego Death. • Syd officially left Odd Future in 2016 and released her solo debut album, Fin, in 2017. Before the year was out, she’d released another project, the Always Never Home EP. • Her 2019 single “Getting Late” was included on the soundtrack for Melina Matsoukas’ film Queen & Slim. • Syd features on the song “Urgency” from Lil Uzi Vert’s 2020 album Eternal Atake.
