About Jill Andrews

After making her name as one-half of the critically acclaimed Americana duo, the Everybodyfields, Nashville-based singer/songwriter Jill Andrews forged a successful solo career throughout the 2010s, exploring folk, country, and warmly detailed pop. Her first two albums yielded a number of songs that found placement across television and film and she bolstered her catalog with numerous standalone singles and collaborations like 2016's streaming hit, "Sea of Love," with Langhorne Slim. In 2018 Andrews returned to the duo format, this time forming Hush Kids with Peter Groenwald. She resumed her solo career with 2020's more personally intimate Thirties. In the 2000s, Andrews established herself co-fronting the Everybodyfields, an Americana outfit that highlighted her musical connection with Sam Quinn. Based in Tennessee, the group spent the better half of-a-decade touring in support of three albums, all of which featured a mix of folk, alt-country, bluegrass, and roots rock. Quinn and Andrews went their separate ways in 2009, though, both wishing to focus on solo careers instead. The Everybodyfields announced their breakup in June 2009, and by the following October, Andrews had already kicked off her solo career by releasing a self-titled EP and assembling a new band. Having become something of a local celebrity in eastern Tennessee, she filled her lineup with members of other local bands, including former Everybodyfields keyboardist Josh Oliver. The group toured the country in 2010, and Andrews used her downtime to record her first solo album, The Mirror, which was released in 2011. A pair of unlikely cover songs -- the 80s pop hits "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "We Built This City" -- kept fans engaged over the next few years while she readied her follow-up release. During this period, she signed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music, which helped land songs on popular television shows like Grey's Anatomy, Nashville, and American Idol. Andrews' second album, The War Inside, appeared in 2015 and boasted a lusher, more varied sound with several songs, including the Seth Avett collaboration "I'm So in Love with You," becoming big hits on streaming platforms. For her next project, she teamed up with fellow singer/songwriter Peter Groenwald to form the indie folk/alt-country duo Hush Kids. The group released a self-titled debut album in 2018. Returning to solo work, Andrews recorded the more intimate and introspective Thirties, which arrived in early 2020. ~ Andrew Leahey
