Blackbeard's Tea Party

About Blackbeard's Tea Party

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. We began busking on the streets of York, playing to make people smile and earn a few quid. We developed a really big, goofy performance style that's stuck with us as we've grown. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Chas & Dave, Don't Give a Monkey's Gogol Bordello, Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike Les Claypool, Four Foot Shack There's nothing better to listen to on long journeys between gigs than music that makes you laugh AND makes you groove. If you could distill our ambition for our music it would be fun, raucous singalongs, brilliantly played but with a rock edge. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Chicken on a Raft” This is the song of ours that has really grabbed people and helped to propel us on our career. A sea shanty written by Cyril Tawny, we bring a rock edge and a lot of cheekiness in our version. Our fans have even made up a dance routine. Hey! Ho! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When we played in Cropredy in 2014 it was a huge moment. We were virtually unknown, playing to 20,000 people, and our preformance just resonated across the field. We made a lot of fans that day who really bough in to our vision of fun, raucous folk. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Our music in niche, but we want more people to hear it. We want to take our live show to some of the biggest stages in the world and find the sea shanty geeks and drunken idiots who like what we do. We want to build a huge community of shipmates.
