Diamond Rings

About Diamond Rings

Diamond Rings is the glammed-up solo project of John O’Regan, who is also the singer/guitarist for indie rock band the D’Urbervilles. While that band was taking a break, O’Regan started writing, recording, and performing -- taking inspiration from queer theory and androgynous trailblazers David Bowie and Grace Jones -- as Diamond Rings. A series of singles across 2009 and 2010 preceded Diamond Rings' first full-length, Special Affections, which arrived in October 2010 via Secret City. After touring in support of the album with artists such as Robyn, O'Regan began work on his second album with producer Damian Taylor (who also worked with Bjork). The results, the bigger and more polished-sounding Free Dimensional, arrived in October 2012. ~ Heather Phares
