About Redi Hasa

After emigrating to Italy at age 20, Albanian cellist Redi Hasa earned buzz in classical circles with his distinctive playing style, which often mimics the sound of a singing voice. ∙ Since 2012, Hasa has recorded and toured with famed pianist Ludovico Einaudi and appeared on several of his albums, including 2019’s Seven Days Walking, a No. 1 hit in the UK. ∙ A partnership with Italian folk singer Maria Mazzotta resulted in two acclaimed albums, Ura and Novilunio, which featured European, Mediterranean, and North African sounds. ∙ After seeing him perform on tour with Einaudi, Robert Plant asked Hasa to play on Carry Fire, an LP named by Rolling Stone as one of the 50 Best Albums of 2017. ∙ His 2020 solo debut, The Stolen Cello—recorded with the same instrument he carried when fleeing the Albanian Civil War—hit No. 11 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover Albums chart.
