About Liberación

Formed in 1976, Liberación is a Regional Mexican band that started playing traditional acoustic styles locally before developing more electrified Latin pop songs. ∙ The band’s 1991 album, Entre Nubes…, introduced them to a larger audience, thanks to the pop-polished single “Cómo Duele,” which updated their traditional sound with shots of synthesizer. ∙ With its electronic drums, big choruses, and dramatic guitar solo, 1994’s “Ese Loco Soy Yo” was a Top 25 hit on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. ∙ Singer Juan Tavares left the group in 2001 for a successful solo career—including 2004’s Top 20 hit “A Un Paso De Olvidarte”—before returning a few years later. ∙ Their playful single “En la Misma Cama” received the 2003 Tejano Award for Mexican/Regional Song of the Year. ∙ In 2009, Cada Vez Mas Fuerte was nominated for the Best Grupero Album Latin Grammy Award.
