About Jonathan Wilson

Musical polymath Jonathan Wilson is a highly regarded songwriter, guitarist, and producer who is deeply influenced by late-'60s West Coast psychedelia and the Laurel Canyon singer/songwriter scene of the '70s. Gentle Spirit put Wilson on the map as a recording artist in 2011 with its trippy production and loosely constructed, languid songs. His 2013 offering Fanfare was steeped in psychedelia from both sides of the Atlantic. 2018's Rare Birds offered a dazzling array of sounds and production techniques in an entire album about heartbreak. As a songwriter and sideman, he has worked with everyone from Erykah Badu to Roger Waters (he directs the artist's touring band). Wilson is also a notable producer: He helmed Roy Harper's lauded comeback Man & Myth and has produced numerous indie artists. Dixie Blur appeared in 2020, and in 2023, he issued his fifth studio album, the self-produced Eat the Worm for BMG.
