About DCappella

DCappella are an American pop vocal group created by Disney Records and contemporary a cappella pioneer Deke Sharon, who acts as their music director and arranger. The group consists of seven members ranging from bass to soprano and includes a vocal percussionist; they sing material largely culled from Disney-related projects. Initially a 14-member ensemble, DCappella's singers were hand-picked from talent competitions like The Voice and The Sing-Off as well as from Broadway and the national a cappella touring circuit. After Sharon slimmed the group down to a septet, they made their recorded debut in April 2018 with a cover of Fall Out Boy's song "Immortal," which was originally written for Disney's animated film Big Hero 6. A few months later, they contributed four songs to the soundtrack of another Disney film, Incredibles 2. By this time, they had made their live debut, appearing on a Disney-themed episode of American Idol. After a handful of stand-alone Christmas singles, DCappella issued their self-titled debut album in November of that year. January 2019 saw them kick off a major North American tour to support the album, which was re-released as a deluxe Japanese edition later that May. ~ Timothy Monger
