About DC The Don
As a standout high school basketball player, rapper DC The Don opted to hang up his jersey and focus on music. The decision seems to be paying off. • DC The Don was born and largely raised in Milwaukee. After some behavioral issues in his teens, he went to live with his father in California in the mid-2010s. • Standing 6’5”, he became a basketball prodigy for Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California. He trained under Lavar Ball, father of NBA star Lonzo Ball. • In early 2017, Lonzo Ball featured DC The Don’s first-ever song,” Everything 1K,” in a commercial. The self-released track now has more than 2 million combined streams. • During his senior year, DC The Don paused basketball to focus on rapping. • After featuring on Lonzo Ball's popular freestyle over Drake's "Free Smoke" beat, DC guested on two songs off Zo's 2018 album Born 2 Ball. • DC The Don’s 2020 full-length debut, Come As You Are, takes its name from the classic Nirvana song. DC has cited Kurt Cobain as an inspiration.
