With his dexterous bilingual flow and a musical sensibility that folds in trap, reggae, and more, Montreal MC FouKi is a remarkably elastic kind of artist. That’s true even by the boundary-stretching standards of rap québ, the homegrown hip-hop style that was the formative influence for the versatile rapper. Born Léo Fougères in 1996, FouKi first earned attention as a teenage battle rapper before making a strategic alliance with rising producer QuietMike. After a string of online releases, FouKi dropped La Zayté, his debut EP for 7ième Ciel and a highly engaging demonstration of the young MC’s stylistic flexibility and easygoing attitude.
