About Motion Graphics

Motion Graphics is an experimental glitch-pop project of American musician, vocalist, and graphic designer Joe Williams. His futuristic compositions are created using custom randomized software, and they reference contemporary alt-R&B as much as minimalist classical. Williams has an extensive musical history, beginning with his tenure as a noise rock drummer in his hometown of Cleveland during the late '90s. In 2001, Williams started So Red, which began as a breakcore/IDM project associated with the likes of Drop the Lime and Girl Talk before morphing into electropop. Incorporating live instrumentation into his songs and moving into more of a glam rock direction, he became known as White Williams and released the acclaimed 2007 album Smoke on Tigerbeat6 (reissued the following year on Domino sublabel Double Six Records). Williams worked with artists such as Ecstatic Sunshine and Co La, and composed the score for the 2013 documentary 12 O'Clock Boys. He also contributed to the 2015 debut album by Lifted, an experimental ensemble led by Maxmillion Dunbar, founder of the Future Times label. In 2016, Motion Graphics made its debut with the 7" single "Brass Mechanics" (on Future Times) as well as a self-titled full-length on Domino. ~ Paul Simpson
