Souvenirs - EP

The fingerpickings of Capetonian troubadour Jeremy Loops have never been as real and raw as they are on his third studio release. Having to put his plans for a new album release on ice, Loops went back to the drawing board with zero reservations and restrictions in the crafting of this five-track EP. As a result, Souvenirs is a stripped-down, folky snapshot in the evolution of Loops, one where we see him reconnect with his acoustic roots more so than ever. From the wistfully nostalgic “On the Wind,” which smacks of the wondrous traditional folk of Paul Simon and co. circa Graceland, and the mammoth collaboration on “This Town” alongside Ladysmith Black Mambazo, to the pop-rooted push and pull of “Postcards,” Loops’ penchant for storytelling is the anchor of this unrestrained project.
