From their inception in the late 1960s and throughout their decades-long discography, Los Tigres del Norte never ceased to be a family affair. Though the norteño legends’ latest comes in the form of an EP, La Reunión’s brevity does not diminish its potency. The title track speaks strongly of family and the virtues of reconciliation, while the lively “La Rutina” does the same for maintaining a purposeful—and caffeinated—work ethic. Heartbreak reaches epic depths on the agonized questioning of “¿En Dónde Estabas?,” a fugue countered immediately with the boozy lovefest “Ni Se Imaginan.”
