Me Hacían Falta Huevos

Me Hacían Falta Huevos

As the old saying goes, if you want to make an omelet, you need to break a few eggs. While the huevos mentioned on Chuy Lizárraga’s latest album obviously aren’t meant to be taken literally, the singer’s mojo remains as intact on this lively banda effort as it was on the breakout hit “La Peinada (La Peinadita)” with his Banda Tierra Sinaloense a decade prior. The title cut celebrates the personal victory of getting over an unworthy lover, while “Bonita Cantinera” indulges in a boozy fantasy with a comely bartender. With a radiant brass section behind him, he delivers impassioned performances over universally relatable tracks like “Me Dio Coraje” and the doleful “Maldito Dinero.”
