Deceiver of the Gods

The ninth studio album from Amon Amarth is a full-on aural assault featuring ten new songs from the Swedish melodic death metal veterans. The follow-up to 2011's critically-acclaimed Surtur Rising brings in veteran British producer Andy Sneap, whose extensive credits include Megadeth and Killswitch Engage. Sneap's pristine production brings out the band’s melodic songwriting while still delivering a sonic punch to the gut. Lyrically, the band stays in familiar territory, focusing on Norse and Viking mythology in songs like “As Loke Falls” and “Warriors of the North.” Former Candelmass singer Messiah Marcolin adds vocals to “Hel.”
