April

April

One of the more powerful and subdued folk-rock albums of his career, April set a new standard for Mark Kozelek’s melancholy reveries. With its thick web of glossy guitars and its lofty choruses, “Lost Verses” is a thoroughly beautiful composition; whispered guitar ostinatos blossom into incredible, delicate polyphony on “Heron Blue.” It’s clear these songs are products of extreme focus and discipline, making April one of Kozelek’s dreamiest and most listenable records.
