Daydream

Daydream

Byron Bay-based siblings The Buckleys kick-started their music careers early–by the time singer-guitarist Sarah was 12 she was travelling to busk with her then-10-year-old brother Lachlan (guitar) and then-nine-year-old sister Molly (mandolin/fiddle). Fast-forward almost 10 years and the trio’s debut album takes their country-pop heritage and infuses it with sassy stabs of funk (“Vibe”), blues (“Feeling the Love”), and rock ’n’ roll (“Crazy Like You”). The band's positive outlook has been described as “hippie country”—it's an attitude personified by “Breathe,” a song of hope in times of adversity which Sarah wrote in Nashville while watching the bushfires ravage Australia at the end of 2019. “Daydream,” meanwhile, finds her “walkin’ these backstreets of my head,” dreaming of time with her lover. Produced by Grammy winner Chad Carlson (Trisha Yearwood, Taylor Swift), the album wraps with the horn-laden partystarter “Money,” a song Sarah wrote for all the teens in the world who don’t have much cash but are still having a ball.
