Former Black Crowes lead guitarist Marc Ford takes that band's Southern music roots and puts them to greater use on this lazy Sunday–sounding solo album. “In You” nails an early-‘70s burned-out vibe. Ford resettled in a small-town California and lets the mellower pace inform everything he plays. Yet, he called upon the British band Phantom Limb to work with him at sessions in Wales and Bath. Songs like “If I’d Waited,” “You Know What I Mean," and “Turquoise Blue,” with honey-sweet harmonies and acoustic instrumentation, make this an album to be quietly found and rediscovered for decades. The deluxe edition adds three worthy bonus tracks.
