Tanishk Bagchi’s preference for family capers shines through on his latest soundtrack, Badhaai Ho. To whip up a celebratory mood, he injects bass into the thumping “Badhaaiyaan Tenu”, and calls on two of Punjabi music’s most dependable artists—singers Neha Kakkar and Guru Randhawa—for “Morni Banke”. Kakkar’s verse on “Morni Banke” may be minimal, but on the lush, yearning “Nain Na Jodeen” she comes into her own. Bagchi’s sturdy compositional style is apparent throughout, especially when his arrangement of guitars and traditional strings breathe life into the playful wedding song “Sajan Bade Senti”.
