Love, lust, and longing have regularly been part of Ricky Martin’s musical repertoire. Arriving some two years after his 2020 EP PAUSA, this similarly compact companion includes a characteristic mix of previously released and new material from the Latin pop veteran. Romantic, almost obsessive gestures characterize opener “Ácido Sabor,” its lyrics overflowing with passionate promises and sexualized sentiments. On “Amordio,” he exudes a sense of gratitude, to God and otherwise, for the good fortune of a lasting albeit complex love. A collaboration with contemporary pop act Reik, the closing “A Veces Bien Y A Veces Mal” delves further into emotional gravity, a deep dive that the corresponding music obliges.
