After five albums with Colombian metal band Ekhymosis, singer/songwriter Juanes turns his social conscience loose on his solo debut. He leaves metal behind in favour of a textured pop sound that weaves in salsa and reggae, and his lyrics address the stresses of living in a violent society. "Para Ser Eterno" mourns a late friend or lover, and the title track (which translates to "Pay Attention") empathises with Colombia's outcasts. On the ballad "Vulnerable", Juanes’ vocals recall Peter Gabriel at his most urgent.
