Asunder - EP

Country singer-songwriter Ward Davis wades through the aftermath of divorce in the aptly titled Asunder. Across four taut tracks, he earnestly details the emotionally hollowing experience of keeping up appearances (“Live a Lie”) and the devastating moment that follows signing papers (“Good and Drunk”). On the former, his candid lyricism pulls no punches: “My hands tremble when your name comes up/Can’t keep the coffee in my cup,” he sings in the opening line, as a piano and cymbals frame his confession. To close the album, Davis turns to Tom Petty’s 1994 single “Time to Move On,” ending this dark chapter in a way that feels encouraging and earned.
