About RBD

Formed as an offshoot of the Mexican teen telenovela Rebelde, the Latin pop group RBD released five studio albums, five live albums, and 17 singles during a run that lasted just five years. • RBD quickly became pop stars in Latin America. Each of the group’s five albums cracked the Top 5 in Mexico, and two reached No. 1. In Spain, they notched four Top 5 albums. • Three of the band’s five albums were released in Portuguese-language versions for RBD’s Brazilian audience. Their first album, 2004’s Rebelde, was also released in an English-language version in 2006 titled Rebels. • The group earned Latin Grammy nominations for Best Pop Album by a Duo/Group with Vocals in 2006 and 2008 for their albums Nuestro Amor and Empezar Desde Cero, respectively. • RBD carried on after the telenovela ended in 2006, after three seasons. As the six singers became involved in other activities, RBD announced in 2008 that they would disband the following year. • Four of the singers—Anahí, Maite Perroni, Christian Chávez, and Christopher von Uckermann—reunited in December 2020 for a virtual performance. Alfonso Herrera and Dulce María didn’t participate.
